A joint statement issued early Monday by Pakistan and Qatar said the high-level committee had agreed a roadmap towards a final deal within 60 days, and that a communication line between the United States and Iran would run for 60 days to avoid incidents and miscommunication. Switzerland, the facilitator, welcomed the roadmap and said technical talks could resume immediately.
Context
The deconfliction line was the mechanism meant to stop shipping incidents from restarting the war. Both sides kept attacking anyway, which is the clearest measure of how little it bound them.
