Pezeshkian urged Iranians to stand firm while Washington accused the IRGC of surprise attacks.Illustration · not evidence

President Masoud Pezeshkian urged Iranians to stand firm against what he called the enemy, as the United States accused the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of carrying out surprise ballistic missile attacks on American positions.

Context

Attributing the attacks to the IRGC specifically rather than to Iran generally gives Washington a narrower target set to answer, and gives Tehran room to disown the operation if it wants an exit.
